Bio

Ammon Bennett becomes Casper College’s first women’s soccer coach. Casper College, which will field a team starting this fall, has tabbed Coach Bennett to lead the program. Bennett has started two other collegiate programs, one at Iowa Western Community College and the other at Utah State University Eastern. While at both of these institutions, Bennett was in charge of both the men’s and women’s teams. Bennett has also coached at the NCAA III level and NAIA levels when he coached at William Penn University in Oskaloosa. Iowa.

Bennett’s combined career record for men’s and women’s soccer sits at 398-211-45. His overall women’s coaching record is 250-84-28. Bennett hopes to reach his 400th victory early this fall when he leads the women’s program here at Casper.

Bennett’s teams have had tremendous success over the years, including the following:

  • 2006, 2007 National Runner-up, NJCAA.
  • 2006, 2007 District Champions, NJCAA.
  • Seven conference titles: 2000, 2001, 2002 at William Penn and 2004, 2006, 2007, 2008 at Iowa Western.
  • Seven conference tournament titles
  • 2000 and 2002, 2006, 2007 and 2008 Conference Coach of the Year, Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference and Midwest Classic Conference.
  • 2016 Region Runner-up at Utah State University Eastern.

Bennett has also been named coach of the year several times, including being named 2006 and 2007 Regional Coach of the Year by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America. He has also coached teams that have been consistently ranked in the top 10 nationally, including being ranked No. 1 on two different occasions while coaching at Iowa Western Community College.

Bennett believes in the following philosophy for his teams. “11 beats 1.” Through basic techniques and tactics, the goal is to develop the players to work within a team concept. The team has no room for the individual who won’t play within the team idea and who won’t accept a role. When the team learns to perfect the basics, more complex ideas are implemented, and the team becomes one working unit, thus creating the 11 beats 1 philosophy. The concept of teamwork is paramount to the success of Bennett’s teams.

Bennett has said this to the athletes that play for him “I tell every player that I recruit that playing soccer is the bonus. They play to get an education and graduate.” Hardworking, dedicated, well-rounded athletes are the staple of Bennett’s teams.

Bennett likes to give a real-life approach to college and athletics: “I try to instill in my athletes a real-life approach. I don’t believe that these experiences while in school just involve being a soccer player but must involve the overall life of being a college student. I want them actively engaged in the college and in being an active part of the social network. I believe that this idea will help set a strong foundation for a successful life after athletics.”
